Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a "signature"?
Every piece of content you sign counts as one signature — an article, video, podcast episode, document, image, or any digital file. CoSigning (accepting someone else's invite to co-sign their content) does not count against your limit on the Starter plan.
Can I invite collaborators who don't have an account?
Yes. Send a CoSign invite via email to anyone. They'll create an account to co-sign your content. It takes under a minute and they don't need a paid plan to accept invites.
Is verification always free?
Always. Anyone can verify signed content for free using the SureMark browser extension or the public directory. Signing is what you pay for — checking is free and open.
What happens if I downgrade or cancel?
All content you've already signed remains verified and in the public registry permanently. You'll retain read access to your analytics. If you cancel, you can restart anytime with a new 14-day trial on a different plan.
How is this different from a digital certificate?
Traditional certificates verify a server or website. SureMark verifies you — the actual human author — and binds your cryptographic identity to specific content. It's proof of authorship, not just proof of encryption.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does an Identity Challenge work?
When verification is needed, an authorized user sends a one-click Identity Challenge. The recipient signs with their unique cryptographic key via the SureMark app or web interface — under 20 seconds. The result is auditable, unfakeable mathematical proof of identity.
Why unlimited challenges instead of per-use pricing?
Identity verification is a security action, not a billable event. Metering challenges creates a perverse incentive to skip verification on "low risk" transactions — exactly where attackers exploit gaps. Unlimited means your team always verifies, no hesitation.
What's a "custom challenge protocol"?
Business and Enterprise plans let you define rules for when challenges are required — for example, "require identity verification for any wire transfer over $500K" or "challenge all board communication during earnings periods." These integrate into your existing approval workflows.
How long does deployment take?
Starter plans are self-serve — your IT admin can have the team onboarded in under an hour using our documentation. Business plans include a live onboarding session. Enterprise deployments typically take 1–2 weeks including integration work.
Can a deepfake bypass SureMark?
No. Digital signatures are based on cryptographic key pairs — mathematical operations that cannot be replicated by AI, deepfakes, or social engineering. A deepfake can mimic someone's voice and face, but it cannot produce their cryptographic signature.
